Level 2 Hospitality and Catering students, alongside senior college managers, got a first look today at the new building developments at the Chadwell Heath Campus. Lakehouse Construction offered tours to staff and students to see more of the year-long construction works and get them prepared and excited for the project, which is due for completion before the new academic year.
The extensive construction and development project was awarded to Lakehouse, a Romford-based asset and energy support services provider, and will include new state-of-the-art facilities and external landscaping.
The new facilities will include a 250-seat theatre for performing arts courses and special events hosted by the college and the local community. New classroom spaces will allow teaching to take place in environments where industry conditions are closely replicated to better prepare students for employment.
The new buildings will be more energy-efficient, using the latest heating and lighting technology and creating annual cost-savings. The £7m build of the 2,405m2 site has been given the go-ahead by the Skills Funding Agency. A grand opening ceremony for the completed projects is planned for later in the summer.
