Level 3 BTEC sport students visited St Mary’s University in Twickenham for taster events over two days last week.
The students had the opportunity to tour the world class sports facilities and to meet students and staff. They met with the SU president to hear about the exciting social and sporting opportunities that arise when you are a student at one of the top sports universities in the country.
The students then spent the afternoon being led by the St Mary’s PGCE PE trainees in a variety of indoor athletics activities. They were able to meet like-minded young people who had followed similar paths to reach university and achieve their goal, and many of students found themselves inspired by the high skill level the students possessed.
Our students were a credit to the department and the college. Sports Lecturer Amy O’Grady said, “We now hope to form a partnership with St Mary’s University which will give our students the opportunity to work closely with the students and staff.”
